This is the last will and testament of me Richard Barton of Blackwater in the parish of Arreton in the Isle of Wight in the county of Southampton Miller touching the disposition of such worldly Estate & Effects wherewith it hath pleased Almighty God to bless me First I will & do direct that all my just debts and funeral expenses be fully paid & satisfied by my executors herein after named & appointed And I give and bequeath unto my four grandchildren namely Robert, William, Mary and Jane sons and daughters of my late daughter Martha Jacob, widow one annuity or yearly sum of five pounds of lawfull money of Great Britain to be [issuing & issued &] payable from time to time unto these during their lives and the life of the longest lived out of and from the Rents and profits of All that my Bargain & Lands with the appurtenances called & known by the name of Coombs Situate at Shanklin in the said Isle of Wight (the which leasehold I leased From John [P osshouse] esq deceased for the ......) And subject To the payment of the said annuity & that by half yearly Payments & to commence From the time of my decease to be paid unto my said grandchildren Robert William Mary & Jane Jacob. I give & bequeath the said lease of the said Bargain & Lands called Coombs unto my son John Barton his Executors Administrators and Assigns But in case he or they shall refuse or neglect to pay the said Annuity in manner above mentioned & the same shall be unpaid at the expiration of thirty days next after the said annuity shall at any time be owed due & payable then & in that case I give & bequeath the said lease use to my said grandchildren and unto my daughter Mary the wife of David Urry in Moiety (that is to say my said grandchildren to have & enjoy the one equal Moiety or half part of the net yearly Rents Issues and Profits & my said daughter Mary Urry to have and enjoy the other Moiety thereof during the Time thereof granted (but determinable by therein ..........) Also I give & bequeath unto my said four grandchildren namely Robert William Mary & Jane Jacob & to the survivor of them his or her executor Adminstrators or Assigns the lease granted unto me by Bridges [Clatotiford] Esq deceased of & in ....... two Tenements or cottages & five acres of land situate on St Georges Down in the said parish or Arreton and all my Estate & Interest therein Also I give & bequeath unto my said four grandchildren one other annuity or yearly sum of twenty pounds of like lawfull money to be issued & paid & payable from time to time unto them during their lives & the life of the longest lied of them out of & from the yearly rents & profits of All that my Trusts Lands & premises with the appurtenances called Rickets Hills situate in the parish of Brading in the said Isle of Wight (the which I hold by lease granted me by Mrs __ Richards ...... For the lives therein mentioned & ........................... Annuity of twenty pounds to be paid in like Manner as the said other Annuity herein before given & bequeathed unto & amongst my said grand-children equally between them share & share alike I do give & bequeath the same lease of the said farm lands & premises called Rickets Hills unto my said daughter Mary Urry her executors administrators and assigns Also I give & bequeath unto the said Mary Urry all and singular the stock & stocks of any kind as well live as dead & both within & without doors which shall be in or upon the said farm lands and premises called Rickets Hills at the time of my decease Upon this condition that he the said David Urry his Executors or Administrators shall & do within three months next after my decease pay unto my said Grandchildren or one of them the sum of .... pounds which I give and bequeath to be equally divided between them share & share alike Also I give & bequeath unto my son Richard Barton his executors Adminstrators and Assigns All that Willow Bed situate at Gatecomb in the said Isle of Wight which I hold by lease granted thereof to me by Mr John Watehead deceased and all my Estate and Interest therein Also I give and have unto my said Grandson Robert Jacob & unto my grandson William Urry son of my said sister {sic} Mary Urry the sum of ten pounds apiece And all the rest residue & remainder of my money and securitys for money & all other my personal Estate whatsoever & wheresoever or of any or what kind or Nature soever the same may be or exist I give share & bequeath the same equally to be divided between my said son John Barton my said daughter Mary Urry & my said four grandchildren Robert William Mary & Jane Jacob And I do hereby name & appoint these the said Robert Jacob & William Urry joint executors of this my said Will hereby revoking all former Wills by me made In witness whereof I the said Richard Barton the Testator have hereunto set my hand & seal this twentyth day of August in the year of our Lord One thousand seven hundred & eighty two.
