In the name of God amen I Richard Barton of Binstead in the Isle of Wight in the County of Southampton yeoman being sick and weak in Body but of sound mind memory and understanding do make and publish this my last Will and Testament in manner and form following (that is to say) First I give my Soul to God who gave it and my Body to the Earth to be decently interred at the discretion of my Executors herein after named and to my Worldly Estate and Effects wherewith it hath pleased God to Bless me (after payment of any just Debts and ffuneral Expenses) I give and dispose thereof as follows First I give devise and bequeath All my Freehold Mill, Mill house and Two meadows with the Appurtenances thereunto belonging situate lying and being in the parish of Arreton in the Isle and County aforesaid unto my son Richard Barton for and during his Life he paying thereout to my son John Barton the Sum of Seven pounds a year of lawful money of Great Britain yearly and every year during his life as aforesaid And for the payment of the said yearly sum of seven pounds I do hereby charge my said Mill, Mill house and two meadows and from and after the death of my said son Richard I give and bequeath my said freehold Mill, Mill house and two meadows with the Appurtenances unto my grandson Richard Barton and the heirs male of his Body lawfully begotten or to be begotten And on failure of such heirs male I give devise and bequeath my said Mill Mill house and two meadows with the Appurtenances unto my great grandson Richard son of my grandson John Barton of Newport in the said Isle and county taylor and to his heirs for ever Also I give and bequeath my leasehold messuage or tenement garden and meadow with the Appurtenances situate at Carrisbrooke in the said Isle and County unto my son John Barton for and during so many years of the said term as shall run out and expire in his life time and from and immediately after his Decease I give and bequeath my said leasehold messuage or tenement garden and meadow with the Appurtenances unto my grandson Richard Buddon for and during all the rest residue and remainder of the said term as shall be then to come and unexpired Also I give and bequeath unto my Daughter Charity the wife of James Newnham the weekly sum of ffour shillings to be paid by my Executors herein after named out of my Freehold messuage or tenement situate at Portsmouth in the said county of South’ton which I charge with the payment of Also I give and bequeath unto my four grandchildren, namely Thomas Parkman, Eleanor Parkman, Richard Newnham and James Newnham sons and daughter of my said daughter Charity the sum of five pounds a piece to be paid them by my said Executors herein after named as soon as they shall severally attain the age of twenty one years Also I give devise and bequeath unto my said son in law John Wright and my said grandson Richard Buddon and to their heirs respectively for ever not as joint tenants but as Tennants in Common all my herein before mentioned Freehold messuage or tenement in Portsmouth aforesaid Also I give and bequeath unto my grandchildren the said Richard Buddon and Elizabeth the wife of Stephen Barny jointly between them one third part or one part in three of my ffour several leasehold messuages or tenements lands and premises (that is to say) my two leasehold messuages or tenements lands and premises in the parish of Brading in the Isle and county aforesaid now in the several possessins or occupations of William James and Thomas Atril my leasehold messuage tenement and lands in the parish of Binstead now in the occupation or possession of my son in law John Wright and my leasehold lands called Holt Mead in the parish of Gatcomb in the Isle and county aforesaid now in the possession of my said son Richard Barton Also I give and bequeath unto my granddaughter and grandson Jane Hunt and William Hunt jointly between them one other third part of my said ffour several leasehold messuages tenements lands and premises To hold them the said Richard Buddon Elizabeth the wife of the said Stephen Barny Jane and William Hunt for and during all the rest residue and remainder of the term I have therein to serve Also I give and bequeath unto my Daughter Mary the wife of the said John Wright one other third part of my said ffour several Leasehold Messuages Tenements Lands and premises for and during her natural life and from and after her decease I give and bequeath the same to and amongst the children of my said daughter Mary for and during the remainder of the said term And all the rest residue and remainder of my real and personal estate effects not above bequeathed I give and bequeath to my daughter Mary my grandchildren Richard Buddon Elizabeth the wife of the said Stephen Barny James Hunt and William Hunt to be equally divided between them share and share alike And I hereby nominate and appoint my said son in law John Wright and Grandson Richard Buddon Executors of this my last will and Testament hereby revoking all former Will or Wills by me heretofore made In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my Hand and Seal the
