Alice was counted in a census on 03 Apr 1881 in 3, Danns Bldg, Arnold Street, Lowestoft, Suffolk. She was described as Daughter aged 4 years.

Details of this child have proved difficult to find. With a stated age of 4 years in the 1881 census, she would have been born between 04 April 1876 and 03 April 1877. Her father's first wife Eliza died in late October 1876, so it seems probable that she died giving birth to Alice. However, there is no birth registered for an Alice M Goldsmith around that time. There is an Alice Mary Goldsmith born 6 May 1878 but her parents are James Goldsmith (a Bricklayer) and Elizabeth Hubbard in Gorleston, and she appears with them in the 1871 census, so not her.

She is not with the family in 1891 (when she would have been 14 years) and hasn't been found anywhere else or in death records.
