On Edward's death in 1568, the Manor of Newton Flotman passed to his eldest (surviving) son Thomas. The Manor of Gunton came to his second son Jeromy of Toft Monks.

Edward died at Gunton in Suffolk but was buried at Newton Flotman, where there is an enarched monument to him, his father and grandfather (see burial citation). The brass plaque on this monument gives Edward's age as 75 years when he died but this would put his birth around 1492 - when his mother Constance would only have been 14 years of age.
He was succeeded by his eldest son (Thomas) by his first wife Elizabeth.

There is some uncertainty over the year of Edward's death. The brass on his tomb, which one would expect to be correct, and the Visitation of Norfolk Pedigree show 1568. Camplings East Anglian Pedigree gives the date of death as 11 Apr 1567 followed by an Inquisition Post Mortem on the 7 Jun 1567.
