It could be that she had two stillborn babies - whilst the births did not need to be registered at that time, a Death Certificate was required in order to bury a stillborn child.

'On 2nd April, 1917, Private NOELL a Battalion Stretcher-Bearer at NOREUIL, showed great bravery and endurance in carrying wounded from the front line to the R.A.P. for many hours across a mile of open country swept by machine gun and shell fire.'

Cpl. George Blunderfield B Noel No4836 of the 51st Infantry Bn returned to Australia, along with some 1100 others in the 13th Quota of men to be repatriated, on board the luxurious 'troopship' P&O's S.S. 'China'. They departed Devonport in England on the 1st of May 1919. George was able to disembark at Fremantle, close to where he lived, on the 1st of June.
